KOWHAI SYNDICATE - 2010
Welcome to 2010 from the Kowhai Syndicate. This year we have three classes in Kowhai Syndicate; these are Room 1 (Mr Stewart – Syndicate Leader), Room 17 (Mr Aiken) and Room 16 (Ms Puati).
Well, just over half way through the second term and we have all been very busy
Science in the Home
The Science in the Home Unit was very successful with all of the classes finishing some excellent and interesting science experiments. All of the children enjoyed making different things from Shampoo and Soap from plants in the school garden to popping corn and ginger beer. The Celebration at the end of the unit was an old fashioned Market Day. All of the children became stall holders and were able to wheel and deal. They all enjoyed dressing up and making money.
Bike Wise Month
The Bikewise Month of February was a great success with the trip to Queen Elizabeth Park and the Bike Day two highlights.
Term 2!
This term started with a Right Choice Day trip to Nga Manu. It was a great day seeing the children enjoying the reserve with their friends and parents. The eel feeding was both informative and entertaining with a number of the children now able to say they have "kissed" an eel.
We are currently 'travelling' around the Pacific. In each class there has been a different focus and all of the classes have had an introduction to both the Solomon Islands and the Kingdom of Tonga. A special thanks to the parents who came in to help with these visits.
We are all looking forward to the Major Right Choice and Unit Celebration on Thursday 17th June. We are going to Wellington to visit Te Papa and then on to the Performing art Centre for a Pacific Dance Show. We are currently fundraising for this by selling Juicies during school time and are having a Cake stall at the opening of the School Playground.
