Welcome to the Nga Tipuranga Syndicate Web page!
Nga Tipuranga syndicate is the Junior Syndicate at the school. We have four classrooms in the syndicate ranging from year 0 to year 1. When children first start school they will enter Nga Tipuranga (seedlings) syndicate.
The teachers in this syndicate are Miss Hedley Room 12 NE/Y1 , Mrs Neal Room 7 Y1 and Mrs Vliss Room 14 Y1. We would like to welcome Mrs Saunders a new teacher who has come all the way from England and has started the new entrant classroom in Room 11 this term.
The main focus in our syndicate is reading, writing, oral language and numeracy. Each term we integrate a topic into these areas. This year during the first term we completed a unit about 'Self Esteem' and learnt that we are all special in our own ways. We also learnt what our bodies need, what's inside our bodies and that we learn new things as we grow older. We had Paula from Life Education Trust come to our school. Harold and Paula worked with us around these topics. The students really enjoyed Harold.
In term 2 the syndicate went to visit the gymnastics centre where the children learnt how to spring, balance, rotate and land safely. The kids really enjoyed it and had lots of fun.
In term 2 we went and planted trees at Queen Elizabeth park for Arbor Day. This is part of what we do as a Healthy Promoting School, we were helping the environment by creating more trees and plants to take the carbon dioxide out of the air so there is more oxygen for us to breathe. It was a very cold day so we didn't all go!
At the end of term 2 all the children who had only lost four or below golden times, went to the Police College for their Right Choice day. The children follow the 5 golden rules below and if they do then they enjoy Right Choice day.

We also had a dog and owner come to visit our classrooms to talk about dog safety. We learnt that we should stand still if a dog is running at us, we also learnt that we should ask the owner to pat a dog before and that we should touch them at the side of their neck not their mouth otherwise they might bit you!!!!
What this space for more details about the year!
