Welcome to Kahikatea Syndicate
We are the senior syndicate of Year 7 & 8 students. This year there are 4 classes at this level. Our teachers are: Mrs Wagstaff, Syndicate Leader and Teacher in Room 19, Mrs Moran (formally Miss Eccles) in Room 18, Mr Young in Room 3 and Mr Knap in Room 4.
I am sure most of you will have heard about the staff changes in Kahikatea for Term 2. Mrs Wagstaff is leaving Raumati South to take up a new position further north. Mr Young will be acting Syndicate Leader for the term and Ms Kristine Bolton will teach in Room 19 over this time.
Mr Young arranges all of the sports events for us, and he now has Mr Knap - who is an expert in tennis - to help. Mr Knap is going to pick and coach the tennis team in preparation for the tournament in March, so if you have skills - or an interest - in tennis, listen for notices to do with this. Mrs Moran has volunteered to work with a dance group this year, instead of a music group. We look forward to these contributions from the Kahikatea teachers.
Year 7 & 8 are busy years at Raumati South School. There are loads of activities and responsibilities that you can chose to participate in - and we hope you will take advantage of the opportunities that are offered.

The Sustainable Home and Garden Show was one area where a number of Kahikatea students took advantage of the opportunity to work with younger students to help Mr Stewart and Mrs Turner develop it. Here is Gus, Selena and Stig with Te Radar looking at our school garden. He was really impressed.

If you need - or want - to contact your child's teacher you can ring the office and leave a message for us to get back to you or you can email us on our school email addresses. These are:
Trish Wagstaff, Room 19 Teacher and Syndicate Leader: wagstafft@raumatisouth.school.nz
Sarah Moran, Room 18 Teacher: eccless@raumatisouth.school.nz
Mike Young, Room 3 Teacher and co-ordinator of all sports events: youngm@raumatisouth.school.nz
Stefan Knap, Room 4 Teacher: knaps@raumamtisouth.school.nz

We are named Kahikatea because the Kahikatea or White Pine is the tallest of New Zealand's forest trees, and we are the oldest pupils at RSS.
