Welcome to Room 19
Hi, I'm Trish Wagstaff, teacher of Room 19. We have 23 great Year 7 & 8 students in Room 19 this year. I have been at Raumati South School for 4 and a half years, and really enjoy the students, staff and the environment we are lucky to have here. Literacy is my passion and I enjoy introducing NZ authors to the students, as well as having the students introduce books they have enjoyed, to me. I trained as a Reading Recovery teacher many years ago and believe this equips me well to help students who find reading and writing a little challenging. I also enjoy Inquiry Learning where the students can develop their own questions to find the information that is important to them in a topic. Developing the skills around the area of Inquiry Learning will be taught or revised early in the year.
Please feel free to pop in and see me and introduce youselves if you have a student in this room. It is always fantastic to be able to put a name to a face and work together with you to get the best from your child at school.
We will begin our weekly blog when school resumes so please take the time to have a look. We LOVE receiving comments so please leave one for us so we know you have visited and that someone is reading our blog.
We will be beginning the year with Camp Preparation but will also be voting on our class representatives on the School Council. Look at our blog for the result!

New on the side bar of this page are links to the Essential Spelling lists and Basic Facts for stages 5 - 8 that we have been practising in class. It is a good idea to spend some time working on both of these areas.
